The Lewis Centre is an indoor-outdoor recreation facility that offers a pool, squash courts, two gyms, a wellness centre, a skate park, a Rotary water park, an outdoor theatre/stage, and more. Kids will also love Comox Valley Sports Centre where they can swim and play hockey. 

Courtenay is well-known for it’s various festivals throughout the year. Since 1979 The Filberg Festival is a point of pride for the community drawing in thousands of people from all over the map to the highly-anticipated event. It’s one of western Canada’s largest juried outdoor art and craft shows featured among the stately trees and gardens of the Filberg Heritage Lodge and Park. The event takes place in summer and offers the public a few days of creativity, music, and delicious local fare.

The brand-new state-of-the-art North Island Hospital was completed in the fall of 2017 and has a 153-bed capacity. Within walking distance of the North Island College and close to shopping, the hospital provides multiple services to our residents. It's amazing to think that over 100 years ago the first hospital in Courtenay was run by 4 nuns in a farmhouse, until the arrival of St. Joseph's General Hospital. 

In terms of shopping, Courtenay has you covered. One the unique places to shop on  Vancouver Island can be found on 5th Street. Here you'll find the Iconic Hot Chocolates and Bakery, together with stylish clothing stores, art boutiques and cafes. Everyday conveniences can be found at various chain stores.
