At certain times during the year, residents from around the Comox Valley will travel to Fanny Bay to view the sea lions as they gather at the near the pier. Newcomers to the area are always fascinated by the sound of the barking sea lions as they bask in the sun. Local residents have become accustomed to the sights and sounds of the majestic creatures but those who have relocated from other areas are often completely overwhelmed by the beauty of it all.

Local restaurants provide a welcome break from cooking, and visiting guests can access additional accommodations in the community, including waterfront bed and breakfasts and inns. Residents can go either direction to Qualicum or Courtenay for additional shopping and services. A short drive up the road to Buckley Bay and the ferry terminal is right there for travel to nearby Denman and Hornby Islands.
